Stone Water Grill | An Experience #Pune #WeAreBack
After a small hiatus, I am back with a new post. I took a much-needed break to complete my research paper on food blogging. Finally its over and on its way to be published in international research journal to my delight.
Last week I was invited for a exclusive new menu tasting at Stone Water Grill, Koregaon Park.
‘consisting of modern European delicacies prepared with contemporary flavours, the menu crafted by the city’s very own culinary expert Chef Shailendra Kekade’
Once a very sought after place due to the ambiance, food and music on Saturday night, it was shut over a year ago much to the disappointment of all patrons. It was such a big hit and trendsetter that as per unconfirmed rumours, many other restaurants in Pune have been designed after Stone Water Grill.
Stone Water Grill is under the fold of Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt Ltd. The umbrella of brands now includes Smoke House Deli (the transformation of refined dining into casual chic), Salt Water Café (a contemporary take on timeless European cafés), The Tasting Room (quaint wine haven) and Stone Water Grill (modern world cuisine accentuated by a wood fired oven and charcoal grill) and Le Kebabiere (authentic Indian recipes with a menu that pays homage to the celebrated Kebab) in Pune.
And on Friday, 13th June 2014, they have re-opened their doors to the public. Regulars who sorely missed them are sure to flock the place. Initially to start with restaurant will be open only on weekends, ie Friday, Saturday and Sunday maintaining exclusivity through preview dinners. These preview dinners are planned for the first two weeks of the launch.
Since I had never visited the restaurant before it closed down over a year ago, I browsed through some reviews posted on Zomato and became quite apprehensive after reading the later ones there.
All my fears were put to rest when I stepped into the place. It is mesmerizing, the setting is beautiful and inviting. I can very well visualize why it made a name as THE destination to life in Pune.
The interior is equally charming, cozy and romantic. I absolutely adored the knick, knacks, platters and table ware used. They are a delight to a food photographer’s eye. ;)
The menu served is extensive with something to please everyone’s taste-buds – a sea food lover, a pizza aficionado or even a burger nomad. There is a lot of stress on molecular gastronomy enticing a customer into another world, another time.
All dishes placed before me were exceptionally good. But special mention goes to Light Tomato ‘Tea’ with Ginseng and Ginger. I am not a tea or a soup drinker but this was beautiful if that is the right word to describe food. :D It is subtle, refreshing and rightly sets the mood for the meal to follow. Full marks!!
Another favorite was Smoked Cous Cous, Cauliflower and Root Vegetable Tagine with crisp chickpea ‘chaat’. It was superb! Absolute must-have is their shots and cocktails – Eye of the Tiger and Burnt Bourbon. *clap*
The taste and creation take you back to basics where you can appreciate each ingredient without overpowering spices. The dishes subtly impact each sense making their way down to your tummy. :)
The highlight of the evening was meeting Chef Shailendra Kekade. A very humble and down-to-earth man, with the right hint of smile for people not understanding his creations.
A special thanks for inviting V along with me.
