I am not a chai person and rarely drinks any except this lemon tea I shared with you last year.

Some readers may remember that my 2015 resolution included quitting coffee as I was getting addicted to it during last winter. Though the season is very mild compared to north but we still need that cozy warm cuppa to snuggle with. And especially since I have made a circle of friends where we visit each other and share gossip, chat and socialise over a cup now and then.

Around the same time I noticed that after a cup of coffee, I would feel giddy, hyper, talk in high pitch & fast and feel strong palpitations. These would subdue in time and I would again start feeling normal. But I got another strong reason to look for an alternate for those silly evenings with friends.

The tea is very fragrant and refreshing along with health benefits of providing high energy and rich in anti-oxidants

Lately I have been told that these symptoms may be due to chicory present in instant coffee. I have tried chicory free coffee since then and the side-effects have reduced but not gone away completely. May be what I need is fresh roasted coffee, made in this dream contraption. [psst: it’s on my wishlist and Santa are you listening ;)] Till then…

Coming back to the hunt of alternative, a dear friend introduced me to this lemongrass ginger herbal tea which she was preparing using fresh lemongrass leaves, some grated or crushed fresh ginger and carom leaves along with palm sugar. I was hooked after the first sip!

I ended up buying my very own lemongrass plant and now enjoy a cup of herbal tea without side effects and overdose.
