Over the Top at Radisson Blu
It was a surprise invite and the day chosen was perfect. Cafe Blu was hosting special set menu dinner for couples on Valentine’s Day. They asked us to choose between Cafe Blu for seating or Over the Top (rooftop restaurant). We chose OTT preferring rooftop than indoors.
The ambiance was surreal with candle light and heart shaped Rose bouquet. I couldn’t have asked for a better setting with pool side, shimmering water in blue lights, red overhead lights, wine on the table and live music.
The menu included both non-veg and veg set menu for a couple and we got to sample both.
In vegetarian starters, Mirch aur dahi ka paneer and Kumbh ki Galauoti (made of Mushroom) were exceptional. In non-veg starters, V liked all the 3 dishes served – Sichuan Mince Lamb Bruschetta, Carribean Chicken and Bourbon Back Ribs.
We skipped the soup and went in for Watermelon & Mint Sorbet. Honestly speaking, before that meal, I never realized the importance of a palate cleanser. One minute I was wondering why a sorbet in between and with just 2 spoons of sorbet, I realized the benefit of having it then. Full marks to chef or whoever planned the menu.
The main course was Punni Rice Risotto and Sigadi ki Tangadi which we both enjoyed tremendously. The risotto was so beautifully done, oozing simple & delicate flavours of butter and herbs.
The dessert was a heart shape cake which unfortunately was not served. We come to the point where Radisson Blu disappointed us. The service was very poor. We had to repeatedly ask and remind for our courses to be served. Dessert was not served even after repeated reminders. Being a working day next morning with kids school as well, it was very difficult to wait any longer than we did. So I took a call to skip the dessert as well and leave.
My husband is a regular at Radisson Blu for his office lunches and client stays, so he was quite surprised and assured me that usually it’s not so bad. I assume it must be a one off case. For the time being I would rate it 3 for food and ambiance.
