Sicilian Pesto

Sicilian Pesto is made using fresh basil leaves with walnuts and pine nuts. In this recipe use easy tips to make this pesto at home.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup walnuts
  • 4 cup fresh basil leaves loosely packed
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp fresh black pepper coarsely ground
  • tsp chili flakes crushed
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 cup tomatoes drained & chopped

Instructions

  • Heat a small pan over medium heat. Add walnuts to pan; cook for 4-5 minutes or until lightly toasted, stirring constantly. Remove from pan.
  • ransfer nuts to a food processor; process until minced. Add basil, oil, salt, and peppers; process until blended, scraping sides occasionally. Add cheese; process until smooth.
  • Spoon into a bowl; fold in tomato. Serve as you like.

Notes

You can use pine nuts in place of walnuts.
