Lightroom Preset for Food Photography

Lightroom Preset for Food Photography is a very handy tool if you know what look you want from your images.

For last one year I have been updating many of old recipes with better images. The intent is firstly to improve my own photography and also to show how the same product could be done better with limited resources. I usually post in this series around end of the month.

Last few months I have started another series ‘Photostory’ where I take food shots as still photography or travel I do to various places and the food I eat there. It will also showcase any major improvement or learning in my own photography. This series appears around first week of the month.

As part of this photostory series, this post will show how I learned to set Custom White Balance.

A while ago I was added by a food photographer to a secret group on Food Photography on Facebook. I usually stay away from Facebook groups because they tend to become a place to promote some members extensively and ignore the rest.

But this group has been very good for me. Not that I am being promoted or ignored but the body of work everyone shares is astounding and one gets to learn so much by reading the discussion on each image.

One such discussion made me understand how to set Custom White Balance brilliantly explained by Jerry Deutsch.

I have been religiously following his technique for all my shoots since. I also learned how to create Presets for Cool Matte Finish in Lightroom 5 using Irvin’s tutorial.
