Cheese Sauce is the basic of many recipes, few of which even I have done here on the blog. Make this creamy, cheesy sauce at home for your pasta, fillings or even for sandwiches.

Homemade sauces are the bomb! pizza sauce, pesto or tomato sauce to choose from here.

Cheese Sauce

All you need is all purpose flour, some cheddar cheese and little butter. That’s it, super easy and delicious sauce is ready.

Use this sauce for a variety of dishes, pastas, on sandwiches, as dip to nachos or like my kids for dosas too. :)

Ingredients

  • 250 ml full cream milk
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese grated
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a thick bottom sauce pan. Add flour and cook slowly on low flame.
  • When the flour is cooked, remove it from the flame and whisk in milk in a thread like pour. Continue whisking the flour and milk, till all the lumps are dissolved. Whisking is very important otherwise flour will forms lump and will not be easy to break down later.
  • Return the pan to the flame and whisk for another 2 mins while the sauce bubbles then stir in the cheese until melted. Add salt if needed.
